Parking requirement for an ADU

Each ADU requires one off-street parking space in addition to what is required for the primary dwelling. No parking space is required for an Accessory Dwelling Unit on a Lot if any portion of such Lot is located within a 0.5-mile radius of a Transit Station.

Site plan review required

Yes, every Tuesday at 10am there is an in-person site plan review. It is free to go and ask questions and also required for all ADU projects. A floor plan, elevations and plot plan are required at the site plan review meeting.

Possible overlay districts

The Revere Floorplain Overlay District has the highest impact on ADU construction and would require additional permitting. Olde Revere Overlay District (similar to a historic district) would also require additional design review.

ADUs on multifamily lots

Yes but have to meet parking requirements. A 2 family building with ADU will  need 4 parking spaces
An ADU up to 900 sq ft is allowed and not limited by the size of the existing units.
